A journalist by training, I began my career as a reporter covering the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology industries and the regulatory aspects of clinical trials, drug advertising and promotion, and the FDA approval process. I transitioned to communications in 2002, taking leadership positions at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization and American Hospital Association, where I developed strategic communications plans on issues such as Medicare coverage for biotech drugs; served as the primary media relations spokesperson; crafted numerous press releases, newsletter articles, CEO speeches, congressional testimony, and email bulletins; and conducted and moderated press events with such celebrities as Patti Labelle and Brooke Shields.

I entered federal public affairs service in 2005 at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the second largest of the 18 institutes and centers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). There, I led communications strategies and media relations around multi-million-dollar global infectious disease research programs including those on HIV/AIDS, malaria, influenza, and Ebola virus. I handled crisis communications for tricky clinical trial developments and the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a writer and storyteller, I am passionate about explaining complex topics in an understandable way. My company will work with you as a trusted partner to understand your communications needs and is committed to providing high-quality products and solutions that drive positive outcomes.
